That Arizona Sun

AMPCAST

I was finishing my day
Eight hours of no fun
Eight hours Diggin' ditches
In that Arizona Sun
As it marched across the sky
In a luminous parade
Even the Palo Verde trees
Were lookin’ for some shade

I thought I knew what hot was
But now I'm on the run
Got to put some miles between myself
And that Arizona sun

I saw a big ol' lizard
Scurry from my feet
But he burst into flames
When he tried to cross the street
And I hallerd at the boss
I need my paycheck now
This desert heat is killin’ me
I'm headin' out a town

I thought I knew what hot was
But now I'm on the run
Got to put some miles between myself
And that Arizona sun

I said Don't think I'm ungrateful
But this aint no fine career
I was lookin' for a job
When I started workin' here
I Hopped into my truck
And you should a heard me squeal
I cauterized my hands
When I grabbed on to the wheel

I thought I knew what hot was
But now I'm on the run
Got to put some miles between myself
And that Arizona sun

I regained my composure
Maintained my self control
Headed out a town
Just as fast as I could go
I decided I'd had enough
Time I hit the road
I swear I's makin' ruts in the asphalt
As I drove

I thought I knew what hot was
But now I'm on the run
Got to put some miles between myself
And that Arizona sun

I thought I knew what hot was
But now I'm on the run
Got to put some miles between myself
And that Arizona sun
